How to Treat Varicose Veins
Varicose veins often bulge out of the skin as discolored, gnarled lumps. In addition to this, most patients experience itchiness, pain, and aches in the leg with varicose veins. Treatment for varicose veins will depend on the severity of the condition. Small to medium-sized varicose veins can often be treated with noninvasive procedures such as compression stocking therapy and sclerotherapy.
Severe cases of varicose veins will need to be treated with surgery. These are usually removed with a minimally invasive procedure that will allow the patient to return home the same day. The goal of most varicose vein surgeries is to close up the veins so that blood can no longer attempt to flow through them. Another surgical option is to remove varicose veins entirely. This treatment is often reserved for the most extreme cases of varicose veins.
